Post COVID-19
A message fromm Jason:
‘The COVID-19 crisis in the UK has had a devastating effect on the teaching atelier. We closed doors to students in March 2020 and have not opened since. As life in the UK begins to return to some kind of normal we are hard at work considering what the future of the atelier will look like in the new world. However, I am now quite certain that we will not re-open a full time atelier program in 2021 and it is unlikely we will ever re-open in the previous format. I appreciate how disapointing this will be for previous students. Unfortunately the fall out and financial consequences of the last year necessitate a significant change in practice and I am still working to understand what this might be. I do though expect to reopen in some capacity in future. This might take the form of a smaller group of part time students, online and short courses and/or regular drawing and painting groups. The full details are still to be worked out but if you are interested in finding out more please join the mailing list and I will contact you with details.
To my knowledge there is no other formal atelier training in this part of the country. Perhaps the closest is Sarum Studio (https://www.sarumstudio.com/) in Salisbury, run by Nicholas Beer (an excellent painter and former teacher of mine) and London Fine Art Studios (https://londonfineartstudios.com/) in Clapham. If you are looking more widely I can suggested contacting Charles H Cecil studios , http://www.charlescecilstudios.com/, Matthew Collins, https://www.matthewjamescollins.com/workshops, or Amy Moseley https://www.studio-donatello.com/workshops all based in Florence Italy.’
